A little bit about the way Static Distortion aims to do things

These are still being finalised, but here is a general sense of where I am coming from:

The 10 commandments of Static Distortion Records

1. We support what we enjoy, which is the blending of Electronic and Alternative musics
2. We care about the quality of the songs, not the methods, genres or haircuts
3. We only support artists we enjoy, both as musicians and people, as we can only be at our best if we are passionate about the client
4. We understand our position is as a stepping stone to bigger resources, and as such all of our clients are free to move on if they receive a better offer, so long as there is no money owing to us
5. We can provide support in many areas, such as help with song-writing, production, artwork, promotion, gig booking, cd pressing, negotiations, references, reviews and anything else that is within our power
6. We are artists too, and we will not arrange any contracts that we wouldn't sign ourselves if the situation was reversed
7. We believe that several minds together are better than one, which is why Static Distortion is community focused, as our spending power, promotional reach and creative horizons are much bigger when we utilise like minded individuals
8. We can see that the music industry is changing, and with it so it the culture of buying music, and we endeavour to make sure that we provide exciting music that is affordable and easy to obtain
9. We have limited resources, but we will discuss any ideas that an artist has for shared expense on pressings/merch production costs, and we can create batch contracts for one off shared purchases to ensure that everyone's costs are covered, and a fair proportion of the sales goes to all involved
10. Music was meant to be fun, so we try to be amiable, easy to talk to and flexible, and that is what makes Static Distortion a useful and productive Record label for the 21^st century.
